To start this post, I'll include some of my favorite photos from 2013,
and then end the post with my New Year's resolutions.
I have tried really hard this year to find my photography style,
and I think I am close to figuring it out.
I tend to shoot really close up and tight.
The photos below were taken with my Canon 40D…
I think this photo is my favorite from this past year.
The speckled gray oven tray is from the thrift store and I found the vase at a garage sale.
I fell in love with the pink, brown, and gray color scheme.
And, who doesn't love ranunculus flowers?
In 2013, I started enjoying food photography…
Looking forward to more of that in the near future:)
This year, we had really amazing farmer's markets each week.
It was such a treat to eat fresh fruits and veggies from our area.
This was definitely a highlight from 2013.
I embraced the gray winter days by photographing some moody scenes.
This was something a little bit new for me. I usually have a really cheerful palette,
but wanted to try something different.
In 2013, I purposely started thrifting items that I knew I wanted to photograph.
This vintage jelly jar and the lace under it is an example of that.
I enjoyed searching for interesting backgrounds for my photos.
Here you can see delicate, pink tulips against a red, rusty wheelbarrow.
I love the contrasting textures.
I also love the tulips on the woodpile.
Thrifted the linens, spoon, and milk glass to create this photo.
The below pics are my favorite iPhone photos from last year.
I think most of these are from my Instagram.
What a colorful year!
2013 was definitely a transition year for me. Lots of changes happened this past year. Some good, some not so good. I guess I'll start with some of the progress I made...
I started bloggin again! I began this blog in 2008, and have taken breaks from it due to having a busy schedule. But, this year, I blogged the whole year! Maybe only a few times a month, but that's a start, right?
I have made an effort to cook more homemade meals for my family, and I think they have loved that! I have worked on organizing my home (definitely a work in progress). I've purposely made the time to focus on my health. Lately, my interstitial cystitis has improved a little, and winter is usually my worst time for flares. So, I am super grateful for the improvement with my health.
I joined Pinterest! I know I am late in the game. I waited because I knew I'd love it, and I'm not the best in budgeting my time online. And, do I love it! I'd love for you to follow me here.
I totally fell in love with Instagram. And, I fell in love with taking pics with my iPhone. Follow me on IG here.
Really, do I even need to mention this? I thrift shopped like crazy! It was a great year for thrifting.
I started collecting pyrex and added quite a few pieces to my milk glass collection.
Mr. Tidy and I celebrated 20 years of marriage! We traveled to Europe this summer. What an amazing trip. Want to see pics? Clickhere.
AND I STARTED WRITING A BOOK! Yes, I am working on it, and hope to have it finished by next fall!!! WOO HOOO!!
The above things are things that I enjoyed this year, progress in some way. The things below are things I'm not so proud of, things I want to work on for 2014:
I didn't spend much time at all in the studio. Like, hardly any time painting.
I compared myself to others, and became very frustrated.
I wasn't brave enough with my talents.
I didn't show myself grace when it came to my interstitial cystitis.
I wasn't very transparent on this blog. I tend to just show just pretty pics and not real life.
Never got around to showing my home tour.
I didn't take many photos with my DSLR.
I started 500 projects and maybe finished 2.
So, with all that said, here are my 2014 New Year's Resolutions:
Be real on this blog. Not just show the happy, but show real life.
To sell my photos online…this is almost ready, folks!
Spend more time in the studio painting.
Use my DSLR camera more often.
Finish my book.
Make a calendar to sell next holiday season.
Have an art show (details coming soon on this)….very exciting news.
Have a home tour on my blog to show you the befores and afters.
Try not to compare myself with others.
Have more quiet times (this helps so much when I take the time to do it).
Show myself grace because of having Interstitial Cystitis, and educate others about it.
Be a finisher of projects.

Wishing you a blessed 2014! I am so thankful for my readers. I love your comments on the blog and on Facebook and Instagram. You guys are an amazing encouragement for me!
Now, I'm off to make a New Year's dinner.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
P.S. If I'm being real and honest on the blog this year…
I have had the flu for the past few days, and spent New Year's Eve in the bed with a fever, and missed all the fun festivities! So very grateful that I wrote this post a few days ago before I got sick. Here's to hoping it passes quickly!
