here i go again

Well, I'm definitely not the best blogger.  I haven't posted in quite some time.
But, I thought I'd let you know what I've been up to lately.  The past year, I've enjoyed playing around with food photography and props.  I guess I felt the need to do something with all those thrifted kitchen items.  It's been fun!  And, I've really learned a lot, too.  Always a good thing.  The following are a few of my favorites.  You can see more by clicking on this link.

Summertime Cherries

A little copper collection.
One can never have too many vintage utensils.
Playing around with pink and green.
blues...
baking day
summertime berry cobbler.  what's not to love?

It's hard to believe it's the end of summer.  This one was fast, but definitely a good one.
Our family visited the beach and I took just a few photos;)

We also visited the lake with my parents.

Frequented the farmer's market as much as possible.
And, enjoyed all the blooms in my garden.

This summer I've also tried to spend time in my art studio.  I feel very rusty.  It's really been years since I've made anything.  But, I'm trying, really trying to spend time out there.  To say it's been frustrating is an understatement.  Most days I feel like I failed at what I set out to make that day.  And, there have been lots of tears at the end of the day.  But, I know it's a process.  I will find my groove, hopefully sooner than later, and that will feel good.  Until then, I'm going to keep on trying and creating as much as possible.  Even if my only creation is a huge mess.
Hope you'll follow along!

Happy Spring!

I don't know about you, but spring is so welcomed this year!
I find I have more energy, which is so nice.
The birds are chirping, the flowers are blooming,  I just love this time of year!
Lately, I have been photographing my thrifted finds with this new barn wood background.
Most of these pics below are on Instagram, so some of you may have seen them before.

Thought it would be fun to make a few barn wood collages.
The first collage has pretty tulips I picked up at Trader Joes,
chocolate chip cookies on a pink Melmac tray with a vintage milk bottle,
fruit salad on a yellow Franciscan ware platter, a fiesta ware mug, and a cute thrifted napkin.
One of my favorite thrifted mugs with surrounded by Sweethearts.

Biscuit making in a cast iron skillet with a vintage rolling pin and doily,
Banana bread in a pyrex loaf pan with a cute thrifted mug,
Pretty potatoes in a vintage colander,
Asparagus on a thrifted pewter plate.
 Berries in a white colander,
Thrifted jello molds,
A cute vintage spoon and napkin,
A vintage mug and polka dot napkin.
Almost all of these items are thrifted.
It's my favorite thing (at this moment) to do…
find little treasures and photograph them for you to see:)
Happy Spring!

popovers!

Yesterday, I spent the afternoon thrifting and found a popover pan.
So, of course, I had to try it out this morning.  I've never made popovers,
but let me tell you, they are so easy to make and super yummy!
I had fresh blueberries with mine.
I'm thinking we'll be having these often;)

carrot cake

Who doesn't love a moist carrot cake?
This is one dessert that my entire family likes, so it is a joy to make.
I made it in a loaf pan this time.
Delicious!
What are you baking lately?

bar cart

I have been looking for a bar cart for my living room for quite a while,
and I finally found one a few months ago!
Woo hoo!
Remember in high school when the teacher wheeled in the old slide projector on that squeaky cart?
Yup, here's the cart, complete with gum stuck under it:)
I think it looks a little more festive now that it is dressed up and ready to party!
I love that it's turquoise.  It's so cheerful with the lavender walls.

Many of these items were thrifted or gifted.

Sweetest little juice glasses:)

Milk glass and lemons.

Right now, I'm using the bar cart for storage for some of my larger milk glass pieces
and some of my pyrex pieces, and one of my favorite drinks, Orangina.

Thrifted these Mikasa Ben Seibel plates:)

So happy with the way it turned out.
It's always fun to create an area with inexpensive items in my home.
Definitely one of my favorite things to do!
Do you see the little closet to the right of the bar cart?
If you follow me on Instagram, you may recall a while back
I posted a pic of some purple paint and an inspiration board…
I used it to paint the inside of the closet for my milk glass storage, made a curtain out of the
purple ticking fabric, a burlap table runner, and accented with natural elements like the moss and stones.
I love how it all looks together!
Behind the ticking fabric is storage for trays and baking sheets.
I even hung little lights in the closet so it would look extra special at night.
I really had fun repurposing that old cart!
It now has a new vibrant life:)

iced coffee

Had a little snow and ice the last few weeks.
At least there was coffee:)
