Christmas Memories

It's been a baking bonanza over here lately...
Cranberry Pistachio Shortbread was a really yummy treat!
Mr. Tidy made Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookies. So. Good.
And, that sweet apron was thrifted a few weeks ago.
Could it be any cuter?
Can't help but think of the following while looking at this photo
"every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings"
(Mr. Tidy's favorite Christmas movie)
A little decorating happened here, too.
I love bringing fresh greenery in the house during the holidays.
It makes it all so festive!

Prepping the table for Christmas Eve...
I mixed tartan, toile, pewter, milk glass, fine china and thrifted pieces together.

I try to limit myself to buy one or two new Christmas items every year.
This year I bought that toile table runner because TOILE!!
(Got it at Pottery Barn in case you're wondering.)
Hoping you all had a lovely holiday season this year.  It was a quiet Christmas for us.
But, it many ways, just what we needed!

orange garland

I've been wanting to try this for years and just never took the time until this week.
It's one of those things that you think, "why on earth did I wait so long to try?"
At Thanksgiving, my parents brought me some oranges that they grew,
and I thought it would be fun to make a garland with some of them.
The oranges are so pretty once they're dried; the colors intensify and look like stained glass.
I thought they looked especially gorgeous in that vintage blue bowl...
complementary colors rock!!

Couldn't decide where I wanted to hang the garland...
I tried it in the window but that really emphasized the need to clean the window.
(insert eye roll here)
So, the garland found it's home here!
Knowing me,  I'll move it again before this day is over.
Can't believe it's already Christmas Eve!
I'm off to bake and enjoy a day with my family:)

frosty

On the first day of winter, I found so much happiness in my garden!
I'll just bundled up and snapped away.
I love how the colors this time of year are so rich.
See, Mr. Tidy, I guess it paid off that we didn't get up all those leaves yet!
I would've missed all this pretty frosty goodness:)

Hydrangea blooms in winter are pretty spectacular!

Happy first day of winter!

rainy day vibes

These colors caught my eye right away.  I mean, look at them!
What's not to love?  Truly a stunner of a shrub!
Sometimes, I end up loving the blurry ones just as much!
Pretty sure I'm gonna paint the one below!
I usually spend lots of time in my studio as soon as it gets cold.
Now, I know what I'll be painting!
I'm forever walking around in my yard looking for something to photograph.
Rain or shine:)
Happy Weekend, friends!

winter is a coming!

Getting a little chilly this week.  I guess it's time.
Guess it's also time to do a little wintery decorating.
Time to get out the wool blankets!
Especially love the plaid ones.

Stay warm, friends!

A Christmas Photoshoot

Fa la la la la…
Had a fun photoshoot with some Christmasy pretties!
To start with, this stool was made by Mr. Tidy
when he was just a young boy.
How precious is that?  I love having it in our home,
and I loved incorporating it into my photography.
Found these dishes at the thrift the other day and
knew they'd be so pretty with some cranberries in them!
Any other toile lovers out there?
I made these ornaments many moons ago
and they are hands down my favorite to use at Christmas.
 Cookies for Santa!
 Vintage ornaments are super cute!
These remind me of robin eggs in a nest.
Shiny Brites…how nostalgic!
Some pretty yellow silky ones
Found this vintage egg basket the other day while thrifting
and it's now full of pine cones from Mama's house:)
Merry Happy to you!
Some of these photos are in my shop if you're interested.

farewell fall

My maple tree is finally dropping all it's pretty leaves.
They are the most beautiful red ever!

So many gorgeous colors in the yard right now.

Fall always amazes me with it's colors.
But it just goes by too fast.
Until next year...

taking notice

Trying out a new lens this past week.
Loving the softness of it.  It's a different look for me, but so far I'm happy with it.
Hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving.  I had a wonderful time with my family.
Such a special day to give thanks for all of our blessings.
The day before Thanksgiving after we'd been thrift shopping and baking (and eating),
I stepped outside with my camera for just a few minutes.
This is what I saw...
This shrub is so pretty this time of year with it's leaves and berries all bright and showy.
love the blur in this one...

Would you just look at these fall colors!
My Japanese Maple is about to shed it's leaves but right now it's perfect in red and purple!
I'm especially drawn to the faded, crunchy ones...
I feel another crepe myrtle artwork coming on...
Last year I photographed my crepes and then made an oil pastel drawing from it.
I just love the patterns in nature!
Walk around your yard, the park, or get out in nature somewhere...
I'm always amazed at what details I see in nature.
Oh, and in case you want to see what I found while thrifting,
here's a pic...
Beyond the moon about that little heart doily.
And all that pink glass is pretty fantastic!
Happy Day, friends!
